Economic value of mangrove ES at the national scale

The goal of this WP is to assess the economic value of Mangrove ES for the whole coast, and to examine the consequences of spatial and historical changes in mangrove areas on that value and on local economic activity. Based on WPs 1 and 2, mangrove ES total economic value (TEV) nation-wide estimates can be obtained by extrapolating WP2 results using the benefit transfer method (T4.1). Then, combining (T1.3) and (T1.4) it is possible to evaluate the extent to which mangrove ES can contribute to mitigate the impact (causality) of extreme climatic events (e.g., cyclone Idai) on the local economic activity (T4.2).
